DOMINGO DO BRASIL 28/08/05
CASTELFRANCO TREVISO/ITALY

This was an Italian initiative, demonstrating the international concern with the Brazilian situation.

Important: focus on the Referendum on gun control in Brazil, with the Control Arms Campaign

The streamlines of this event was to encourage Brazilians to vote for the Referendum to drop the cycle of violence and poverty within the Brazilian Society. The referendum on Control Arms, 23rd October 2005, is set to be the first national gun vote in the world and, if the Brazilian people vote for tougher controls, it could help reduce the violence on the streets and this will serve as an example for other societies.

Amnesty International volunteers were present to promote the campaign profile. Volunteers managed to get over 100 sign ups for the Control Arms Campaign.

Armed violence kills 40 thousand civilians a year in Brazil, according to "Sou da Paz Institute", (Control Arms coalition partner in Brazil), associated to Oxfam, Amnesty International and IANSA. http://www.soudapaz.org.br

Big Thanks to Massimo Massaroto, Bess & Gasu, the event organisers and to Sauro Scapelli & volunteers from Amnesty International.

INTERVIEW WITH JUSSI-PEKKA

INTERVIEW WITH JUSSI-PEKKA//FROZEN NORTH RECORDINGS

> How did you start up making music? which events Artists Eps marked you then?

I started to make music more often back in the early 90's... With
trackers, like many other artists have began. At the moment, "hip" music
was Holy Noise, L.A.Style, U-96 and others... Also BabyFord, T-99,
Altern-8 were totally for me. Actually, they're cool even nowadays!

> What are you are favorites labels at present? Could you explain why?

My favorite labels are M-nus, poker flat, frozen north (of course) and
so on... there's too many good music around to just name a few. Those
were just first to pop-up.
Why? wellllll, that's a bit harder one... I like music that has groove
in some way... Even, if there isn't too many elements (like drums,
chords, bass, singing, background vocals etcetc) the track still needs
to move and make me stomp my feet.

> How would you define your own sound & and you own label ''Frozen North Recordings'' ? in which terms?

My own music is quite this'n that, you know, i make a lot of different
styles (althought only a few end up on a 12")...
I don't try to compose any track, i just try different things and in the
end if the groove is good enough, it'll end up as a finished track.
Of course other music and random events in my life affects what i feel
"groovy" at the time.

For Frozen North, i sign good, mostly finnish, tracks and artists. As
i'm the only boss/a&r/owner/worker/slave for the label, i can choose my
favorite tracks! I try to keep some sort of a genre-limit, that i don't
release other than minimal, techno, tech-house or maybe house... so no
trance or proggy-stuff on my label!

> What are your projects for next year?

I'll be doing some remixes of Frozen North, but also to some other
labels. Also i'll be releasing an ep on disco inc. somewhen in the near
future, as well as a double-ep / lp on my monoder -alias.
Also, i'll be releasing personal stuff on FNR.

> Have you ever thought about releasing an album?

Yes, of course. But at the moment, it's not an issue for me.
As there's the "art" album coming from Monoder, as well as there was and
old mp3-album called "finish dynamic"... For me, at the moment,
Jussi-Pekka LP doesn't make sense.

> What was your best gig lately?

Must be my first dj gig in Club Rose Garden in Helsinki. Totally amazing
crowd!

> Which countries attracts you the most in terms of deejaying?

As boring as it may sound, i think Germany has really good crowd. There
people come to listen to the music, not to see the dj. It's always a
pleasure to visit the germans again.
Where i would like to play, in Europe U.K. and outside Europe, Japan.

> Which other genre of music apart from electronic music would you play out if you were asked to?

Unfortunately, almost all of my cash goes to electronic music, so i
can't play/dj other genres... But as a listener i have a big place in my
heart for jazz and classical music.
