Atlantida Music Festival
29/01/05
Porto Alegre/RS - Brazil

Atlantida town, 2 hours drive from Porto Alegre, in Rio Grande do Sul.
The Atlantida Music Festival happens every year since 1996. It’s a big reunion of every type of music tribes.
From pagode (Brazilian rhythm) to electrohousemusic. Indeed such a big festival attracts lots of people. 90.000 people came over for the 2005 edition.

Smartbiz, an international Dj Agency based in Sao Paulo, were kind enough to book Each & Oscar Bueno to dj at the VIP area of the Festival. www.smartbiz.com.br

At the same time The World Social Forum was taking place in Porto Alegre. Oxfam, Amnesty International and many others worldwide NGOs were discussing issues regarding the well being of the Global Society, including the 1st Referendun on gun control in the world, settled to happen in Brazil still this year.

Would have been amazing to have a great Control Arms Campaign in this Festival, as the World Social Forum was happening just next door.

We started to contact the organisers of the Atlantida in November 2004, however it was already late. At that stage the organisation of the Atlantida Music Festival was completely settled up and to add the Control Arms Campaign would not be possible. Maybe next year…who knows…

Even though I got 6 sign ups for the Control Arms Campaign.

THE HOUSE CLUB
28/01/05
FLORIANOPOLIS/SC - BRAZIL

Florianopolis is one of the most beautiful town in Brazil. It’s in an island in Santa Catarina. When I am in Florianopolis I have the impression that I am in another country, more organised, due to its level of security and administration.

Even though things are changing and lots of people, good and bad ones, are starting to discover Florianopolis. Cases with armed violence, unfortunately, are starting to take place in some hot spots.

Vitor, the owner of The House Club, Dj Vitamine and Dj Djazzadellic, promoters and Djs residents, welcomed Each & Oscar Bueno and said that it was a big honour to have such campaign in their club.

While taking pictures and talking to everyone I met Tierre, a young guy from Alvorada, a town in Rio Grande do Sul. He said he had just moved in to Florianopolis with all his family seeking a safer life. They left their hometown because of the uncontrolled armed violence, which reaches the figure of 15 assassinates on a weekend. Tierre said that he miss his friends, but will not go back for good, only to bring his girlfriend to merry him and live in Florianopolis.

It was a busy night again with people cueing up to sign up for the campaign with Oscar & Each at the decks. We got 32 sign ups @ the House Club.

LOV.E FOR FRIENDS - 24/01/05 - Sao Paulo - Brazil

Love Club, famous for its good taste in choosing djs for its demanding crowd was absolutely packed.
On the line-up we had the cream of Sao Paulo, Oscar Bueno & Mimi (Smartbiz), Jac Junior & Mr. Gil (residents) and Dj Each.

The promoter of the night, Cesar Semensato, came to say that over 1000 people turned up to dance the local Djs & Each's fine electrohouse.

It was an amazing night and Sou da Paz team made their best signing up 81 supporters for the Control Arms Campaign.

D-EDGE
PARADISE – AFTER HOURS PARTY
22/01/05
SAO PAULO - BRAZIL

Still under a summer rainstorm on the 22nd January we drove back from Rio de Janeiro to Sao Paulo trough the curves of Santos Motorway. After 4hrs driving we stopped in Ubatuba, north seacoast of Sao Paulo. Oscar was to have a gig over there with Dj Hell from Gigolo Recordings.

As soon as Oscar finished his set, it was already Sunday the 23rd, we headed down to Sao Paulo, another 3hrs driving. We went Straightaway to the After Hours Paradise @ D-Edge Club, one of the best clubs in Brazil. We got there at 5am, just in time, when Dj George ACTV was finishing his set, so Each & Oscar took the decks. The party last till 12noon and the clubbers didn’t want it to end.

Heather from Sou da Paz, the Brazilian NGO associated to Oxfam, was there with a fantastic volunteer. Sou da Paz volunteers gave us a big hand on bringing awareness about the campaign and we collected 45 sign ups for the Control Arms Campaign.

Ram Davineni from Rattapallax, USA, a strong supporter for the Control Arms Campaign and Brazilian Cultural Art was present as well with his irreverent short movies. As an intellectual concerned with global issues Ram is promoting Each’s tour on his website: http://www.rattapallax.com/wsf.htm

Fosfobox
21/01/05
RIO DE JANEIRO - BRAZIL

We left London on the 20th of January. Again Jungle Drums Magazine showed their support for the campaign by publicising an article in its 20th edition to launch the second Each’s tour of f Brazil. http://www.jungledrums.org/english/edicoes/edition20.asp

On the 21st we arrived in Sao Paulo, where we met Oscar Bueno. The Brazilian Music Scene, trough Bruna Monteiro de Barros, jornalist from Rraurl, let everybody know about Control Arms Campaign and the Each & Oscar’s tour.

http://www.rraurl.com/cena/noticia.php?rr_noticia_id=1058

After driving over 7hrs on Rodovia Dutra, a motorway between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, under a heavy summer rainstorm, we reached Fosfobox in Copacabana. You can’t imagine how pleased we were when we got there… and Cabbet, the owner of the club as well.

We were 2 hrs late for the party, however the crowed waited outside until Each & Oscar’s arrival. The club then was incredibly packed till 8am and we got few pictures (18) taken for the campaign (after such long drive).
